Places to Study

The Student Study & Collaboration Center is on the TMEC second floor just off the atrium in Suite 229. The 4,700 square-foot center features an electric fireplace and comfortable modern furniture in a living room setting, along with study carrels, group study rooms and windows that will look out across the Seeley G. Mudd courtyard. It is open to all students enrolled in HMS/HSDM programs, including MD, masters, dental and PhD students. Nearby, an upgraded vending area provides microwaves, snacks and coffee machines for late-night study sessions.

Favorite individual study spots include at home, in the Computer Resource Center, out at coffee shops. Opportunities for group studies exist around the medical school including Countway Library, unused classrooms or tutorial rooms  and the Harold Amos Student Lounge (442) in TMEC. If you would like to take a break from HMS, other popular places to study include the Harvard Law and Business School libraries. Group study can be useful before exams, for moral support as well as review and when topics are conducive to discussion.

Tip: Students can make day-of reservations for a TMEC Tutorial Room for personal or group study through Room Scheduling.

Student IDs

Photo ID badges are required for entrance into the Harvard Longwood Campus buildings. Photo ID badges, which are to be displayed visibly at all times while students, faculty, and staff are on Harvard property, entitle you to free M2 shuttle bus rides to and from Cambridge. More about ID cards.

Student Lockers

Lockers in the TMEC are assigned by staff during orientation. For assistance with mechanical issues, contact Mark Coyle.
