White Coat Day
During the first week in August, incoming students receive their white coats as they prepare for the challenges of medical school. Read about White Coat Day 2019.
Revisit is held each year in April and is an opportunity for admitted applicants to visit campus for a second look before making their final decision as to which medical school they will attend. The Office of the Committee on Admissions partners with the Offices of Student Affairs and Recruitment and Multicultural Affairs to plan a comprehensive and exciting schedule of events. An invitation and detailed information will be sent to admitted applicants by email in March directly following when admission decisions go out. This year, Revisit is scheduled to be held April 5-7, 2020. Some offices hold events before/after these dates. Revisit invitations are only given to HMS MD and MD-PhD admitted applicants.
Soma Weiss Student Research Day
The 80th annual Soma Weiss Student Research Day will be March 17, 2020.
Soma Weiss Student Research Day is an annual forum where medical and dental students present their scholarly work and learn about the investigative work of their peers. The event, first organized by Harvard faculty and medical students in 1940, honors the memory of Soma Weiss, MD (1899-1942), an inspiring teacher and physician at HMS and an ardent supporter of student research. The day consists of a poster session and selected student oral presentations. It provides students with an opportunity to interact with faculty, staff, and peers from the greater Harvard community.
Match Day is an annual nationwide event at which students learn which residency program they will be attending. It is coordinated by the National Resident Matching Program in Washington, DC. Match Day will take place on March 20th, 2020.
At Harvard Medical School, students receive their match information on campus at noon, followed by a lunch in their honor. Students who are not able to participate in person will receive their match information online at 1:00pm.
HST Student Forum Day
The HST Forum is an annual event celebrating the depth and breadth of the Health Sciences and Technology student research effort. It provides both HST-London Society MD and HST Medical Engineering Medical Physics PhD students the opportunity to present their scholarly work, learn about the investigative work of their peers, as well as interact with faculty and staff from the greater Harvard-MIT community.
Graduation is a day of ceremony and celebration at Harvard University and Harvard Medical School. Students are granted the MD and any other advanced degrees they have earned, they are hooded, and they receive their diplomas.
Graduation consists of two parts: the Commencement Ceremony and Class Day. Information about specific timelines and other details are distributed directly to graduating students. Graduation 2020 will be on Thursday, May 28, 2020, and the Class Day speaker will be announced in early 2020.
