Camila M. Mateo, MD, MPH, is a primary care pediatrician at Martha Eliot and Boston Children’s Hospital who focuses her work on the care of underserved children. She completed her pediatric residency and a chief resident year at the Boston Combined Residency Program at Boston Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center where she was a part of the Urban Health and Advocacy Track. Following this she completed the Harvard-wide Pediatric Health Services Fellowship and obtained an MPH at the T.H. Chan Harvard School of Public Health. In addition to serving as a faculty advisor in the Office of Recruitment and Multicultural Affairs, she is the Morgan-Zinsser Associate Director of Faculty Development in Inclusive Teaching and Antiracism and a co-course director for Social Medicine in Essentials of the Profession II at Harvard Medical School. Her research interests include studying the effects of discrimination and intersections of identity on the health of youth and young adults. Her medical education work focuses on anti-racism, health equity, and diversity and inclusion throughout health professions learning environment. She also serves as the Diversity Officer for the Boston Combined Residency Program and is a faculty member at the Center for Health Equity Education and Advocacy at Cambridge Health Alliance.
