Third and fourth year students have the opportunity to earn the MD Degree with Honors in a Special Field (cum laude, magna cum laude, summa cum laude) at graduation.

Process
- Carry out a research project in your choice of any discipline - research typically involves at least four months of full-time work, often more time is needed in the experimental biological sciences
- Apply to the program in late September by submitting a Statement of Intent
- Submit your honors thesis in February
- Sit for an honors exam in March or April
- Receive notification of earned designation just prior to graduation in May
